- **For the dough:**
- - 1 cup water
- - 2 Β½ tbsp granulated sugar
- - Β½ tsp salt
- - 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- - 1 cup all-purpose flour
- **For frying:**
- - Vegetable oil for deep frying
- **For coating:**
- - Β½ cup granulated sugar
- - 1 tsp ground cinnamon
In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and 2 tbsp oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
Remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Let it rest while you heat the oil.
Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
Pipe 4β6 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil, using scissors to cut the ends. Fry 2β3 at a time.
Fry until golden brown, about 2β3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Mix cinnamon and sugar in a shallow bowl, then roll warm churros in the mixture until fully coated.
Serve warm, optionally with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche.
